Life on the Rock
"The best weather instrument yet devised is a pair of human eyes." - Harold M. Gibson
Well its been a very weird fall and winter is off to an odd start.....or so I'm told. We've barely had any snow and what little we have had has been washed away by tons of rain. During the none winter months weather here on the rock is usually described as RDF.....Rain, Drizzle & Fog, which is very accurate to say the least. If you ask me they should also add the following acronym: FWB, which is Friggin' Windy By'e.....oh and if they do use this one I want full credit for creating it.
20-30 km/h winds are considered to be a pretty typical calm day here. I can't even begin to count the number of times the wind has gone above 60 km/h......which happens at least once a week. Our house is only 7yrs old but it creeks as much as a 50yr old home sometimes from the strain of the wind. Sometimes I wake up in the morning surprised to still see a roof over my head.
Sometimes I think that St. John's should steal the title of "The Windy City".
